Managing Director – Frank Thomas

Frank Thomas’s working career in the Roofing Industry spans 42 years.
Having served a plumbing apprenticeship, he qualified at age 20 as a Registered Plumber.
He spent 14 years working as a plumber and roofer for a large plumbing & roofing business involved in both contracting and manufacturing.
In 1988 formed his own contracting business in Hamilton. The company, The Roofing Specialists Ltd, currently employs 20-25 staff and is approved by the major NZ roofing manufacturers as certified installers of metal and translucent sheeting and holds distributorships for installation of metal tiles and fascia along with butyl membrane and torch-on systems.
The Roofing Specialists Ltd was a founding member of the Roofing Association of New Zealand Inc (RANZ), the national organisation formed in 1994 to represent the Roofing Contracting Industry.
Through his personal dedication to the roofing industry and desire to achieve a more professional, qualified, better skilled and trained industry, Frank Thomas has been personally committed to RANZ and industry training since 1998.
Over his 40 year career, Frank Thomas has been involved in all aspects of commercial and residential roofing, developing over that time a comprehensive knowledge of and experience with a wide range of roofing systems.
He has also gained construction experience through involvement with the building of several residential properties and a commercial building in the Waikato area.
Frank began the consultancy side of the business early 2006 where he uses his expertise in assisting in the mediation of problem jobs throughout New Zealand.

Holder of NZ National Certificate in Metal Roofing & Cladding (one of the first to sit and be accredited with formal roofing qualifications registered on the NZQA framework in 1997).
Registered ITO Assessor and National Moderator for the Roofing Industry.
1998 – 2009 Served on the Advisory Board of the Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec), Hamilton.

Contracts Manager & Commercial Quantity Surveyor – Peter Fluhler

Peter has been in the roofing industry for 30 years.  After he served a plumbing apprenticeship he worked as a roofer, during which time he was also the workshop manager of a roofing sheetmetal factory in Melbourne Australia.
Upon his return to New Zealand he was employed as a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator with a roofing manufacturing company prior to beginning his employment with The Roofing Specialists.
Peter has been a valued member of the RSL team for 16years.  Throughout this time he has had to liaison with architects, suppliers, site managers and other key trades people, he is continuously faced with new products and specifications as the industry expands and strives to find the best solutions for our clients.
 

Contracts Supervisor - Glenn McIntosh (Macca)

Macca has been in the roofing industry for 25 years and has been part of the RSL team for four years.
He has experienced working for roofing and building companies abroad in countries including England, France, Greece and Australia.  He brings with him knowledge of alternative products used overseas and coping with different climates and environments.
He has specifically worked on Commercial projects using Longrun and Waterproofing systems.
Macca has participated in the NZ National Certificate in Metal Roofing & Cladding program and as an onsite point of contact carries first aid and site safe passports.
He has been heavily involved with our health and safety program and liaisons between Management and onsite staff.
He leads and mentors our staff on commercial and industrial contracts.
 

Roofing Solutions – Bill Bennetto

Bill has been in the roofing industry for 40 years.  Bill served a plumbing apprenticeship prior to beginning his own sub-contracting business which focused primarily on residential roofing contracts including many for well known group housing companies. 
Bill carries a wide range of knowledge especially when it comes to residential longrun projects.
Bill has been with RSL since June 2010 and during this time has built up an impressive rapport with our clients both new and existing.
Bill’s wealth of knowledge that he brings to RSL is beneficial when ensuring our customers are able to have the best options discussed with them at site visits.
 

Residential Estimator – Monique Thomas

Monique has been with RSL for seven years.
During this time she has built up her knowledge of the roofing industry and various products used specifically for residential projects.
Monique is particularly interested in the metal tile products available and enjoys assisting clients with profile and colour selection to meet their style requirements.
Monique has undergone training in the Exact Roofing computer software and uses this program to provide our clients with accurate quotes in an efficient manner.
